Registration
A written registration is required. The registration form can be sent by post, fax or e-mail. Registration for a language trip must arrive at least 4 weeks prior to the beginning of the course at Mainhattan Languages.
Confirmation of registration
After receiving your registration you will be sent a confirmation and an invoice. Detailed information about a language trip will be sent to you approximately 3 weeks before the beginning of the course.
Insurance
Language students from abroad who want to undertake a language course in Germany will receive an insurance offer from us for the duration of their stay. The cost of the language course does not include any insurance.
Arrival and Departure/ Transfers
Language students taking part in a language course will make their own travel arrangements. Transfers to and from the airport can be booked through Mainhattan Languages.
Travel requirements/ Visas
EU citizens require only a valid identity card for travel to other European countries. For language trips to South America, a valid passport is required. Language students who book a language trip to Germany must organise a visa themselves. If a student is not granted a visa, then the language school will refund the cost of the course minus an administration fee of 50 Euros. For the cost of the course to be refunded the language school must be directly informed and sent a written statement about the visa rejection.
Course level/ Minimum age
The course level is based on the level of course ticked on the application form by the student and by a written placement test before the beginning of the course. The minimum age for a language trip is 16.
Accommodation
If required, the language school can organise accommodation in a guest family, youth hostel or hotel. Rooms are reserved from the Sunday before the beginning of the course until the Saturday after the course ends.
Bank holidays / holidays
For intensive courses there is no reduction in price if the amount of lessons in a week are fewer, due to local bank holidays. For the following courses, lessons that are lost due to bank holidays will be repeated. Standard course (2 hours per week); Plus course (4 hours per week); Super Plus course (6 hours per week).
Prices / Methods of payment
The cost of the course is based on the price list at the time of registration. Included in the price are the following: consultation, written test, certificate, photocopies and beverages. The cost of the course must be paid one week in advance at the latest, before the beginning of the course. Otherwise participation in the course will not be allowed. With language trips a 25% deposit is required after receiving the confirmation of the booking. The remainder of the cost must be paid one week in advance before the beginning of the trip.
All language courses booked on a one-to-one basis or as a partner course must be completed in full within one year of the booking date.
Cancellation / Changes in bookings
Any changes to the original registration must be in written form. Up until 4 weeks before the beginning of the course, a change in the booking is not charged. In all other cases, a fee of 20 Euros will be charged. A change in booking within the 4 weeks before the beginning of the course will be decided upon by the head of the language school. In the case of a cancellation Mainhattan Languages has the right to charge the followings fees. A cancellation 30 days before the course start: 10% of total cost; a cancellation 29 days to 16 days before the course start: 25% of total cost; a cancellation 15 days to 8 days before the course start: 50% of total cost; a cancellation 7 days or less before the course start: 100% of total cost. For late arrival or early departure, there is no refund. The school must be informed about any changes in the times for individual lessons at least 24 hours in advance. The full cost of cancelled lessons must be paid if the lesson is cancelled less than 24 hours in advance.
Guarantee
Items that are covered by us can be taken from our description and relative registration form. We guarantee that the language courses are well prepared, that the course leaders are carefully chosen, that the offers are correct and that the contract terms will be fulfilled.
Legal Status
The agreements made with Mainhattan Languages are upheld by German law. The seat of the law is in Frankfurt am Main.
