The metropolitan city of Frankfurt, the birth place of Goethe, a central German city on the river Main, is a major financial hub that is home to the European Central Bank. The city offers numerous cultural activities in the centre and surrounding area.

If you really want to get to know Frankfurt’s culture and its history you definitely have to visit one of the traditional Apfelwein pubs. In Sachsenhausen the old town you have a large selection of traditional restaurants where you can enjoy the local cuisine and taste the well-known dishes such as “frankfurter Grüne Soße” and “Handkäs mit Musik”.

The area around Frankfurt, the Rhine Valley, is well known for its picturesque vineyards, historical villages and castles. Nearby, you find the famous university towns of Heidelberg and Mainz. Cologne and Berlin can also be easily reached from Frankfurt.
